Simply put, being enchanting is beneficial- it gets you followers. You want people to consider and interact with you and your content/product/service, right?
Exactly. So, whichever social media platform(s) you are using, you need to do your thing in a way that will pique interest. How? Let's turn to guru Guy Kawasaki, co-founder of Alltop.com, an “online magazine rack” of popular topics on the web, and a founding partner at Garage Technology Ventures.
In addition to his newest book,"Enchantment," his webinar, How to Use Social Media to Enchant Your Customers, identifies what to do. Essentially, you need to view the webinar for the in-depth how-to, but here's the deal in a nutshell:
2. Always be trustworthy.
3. Be DICEE! (Deep, Intelligent, Complete, Empowering, Elegant)
4. Always be answering.
Three keys to this: fast, flat, frequent. Respond in 24 to 48 hours and you'll come off impressive, especially in marketing and PR.

5. Always be linking.
You will gain more followers by being interesting; you can be more interesting if you provide links. Actually, interesting is such a broad and overused word. You want to be exciting, appealing, compelling. Twitter is the linking economy, so use Twitter to enchant people- take a second to write a summary and add a bit.ly. Where to scour for content? Kawasaki relies on StumbleUpon, SmartBrief and Alltop.
6. Always be monitoring.
Monitor what people say. Try Hibari and Tweetriver.
7. Always be photographing.
As Twitter is the linking economy, Facebook is the photo economy, according to Kawasaki. Take photos of everything, everywhere you go (even if it's just with a mobile phone!). However, before posting, a few things to do: crop, brighten, increase contrast, sharpen.
8. Always be commenting.
Make your presence visible and your opinion public.
9. Always be thanking.
Don't let a positive comment pass without thanking!
10. Always be disclosing.
...that is, if you want to be trustworthy.
11. Always be repeating.
If you have good content, you need to repeat it! Not everybody checks their news or Twitter feeds every day at every time.
12. Always be restraining.
Don't over-promote.
BONUS: Always be grinding. Remain consistent with commenting and updating. Fresh content is key, and it prevents anyone from losing interest.

Is it good to ask questions and request responses on Twitter?
Absolutely, yes. You'll be amazed at the quality of responses. The concept of reciprocation is enchantment.
Can a person still be enchanting after ruining the first impression?
