Microsoft Studios is looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager to help us deliver innovative and ground-breaking experiences that push the boundaries of what is possible. We're a small R&D team working with incredibly exciting entertainment technology across console, mobile, tablet, and web platforms. We brainstorm revolutionary companion experiences and quickly build working prototypes on top of developing tech. We transform our ideas into reality through shipping a first-to-market product.
This position will be responsible for owning deep technical pieces across multiple projects and platforms. Your ability to research, understand, and leverage emerging tech is as important as your producer skills. The producer will also be responsible for pioneering development processes, helping build schedules and budgets, and ensuring development and production work align to the overall vision and strategy for the project.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to drive teams and individuals towards common goals, be an effective liaison between multiple disciplines and teams, possess a broad understanding of hardware and software, and be able to ramp up quickly on new and developing technology. Knowledge of games, game production, and/or game development is key.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver creative, fun, and innovative experiences
- Assess project tech needs and recommend appropriate solutions
- Assess engineering resource needs, find and evaluate appropriate contractor/vendor engineers
- Write clear and comprehensive specs
- Manage development and production plans to deliver world-class quality on schedule
- Create tools, standards, processes, schedules, communication methods, and anything else that helps a team stay on vision and on schedule
- Champion a piece of technology and drive it to completion
- Build strong working relationships with all members of the team and external teams
- Establish and maintain the project's vision, scope, schedule, budget, and resource plan
- Communicate risks and opportunities to management on a regular basis
- Create and improve internal processes for signing and shipping apps
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- 2+ years working as a Producer or Program Manager
- Previous experience as an Engineer or SDET a plus
- Strong technical skills
- A history of high quality products and experiences
- Experience problem solving and managing creative teams
- Experience working on an entertainment product
- Knowledge of all aspects and stages of game development
- Knowledge of mobile and web development
