Individual Contributor Role in Corporate Marketing at VMware
As an individual contributor in the Social Media and Communities corporate marketing team, you will be expected to be a social media evangelist as well as content producer. You will engage with teams internally, as well as externally, helping to develop content, and educate others in the use of social media technologies. You will also monitor and manage the content and track marketing trends found at the various Social Media sites.
Content production includes:
- Video production and editing, youtube style social media content, with some basic video editing required.
- Video blog casts as well as text blogging
- HTML content for various community pages, with basic image editing using photoshop
- Twitter feed management and tweets to various corporate twitter feeds.
Social Media service management includes:
- Youtube video publishing and the use of Youtube's video streaming embed codes for video plblishing to various websites.
- Using twitter to operate and control twitter groups and manage the growth of twitter followers.
- Facebook groups and adding content to the VMware facebook properties.
- Photosharing content sites, managing the collection of photos as well as keeping content organized on Flicker.
The Socail Media evangelist will also be responsible for producing and publishing a set of best practices for the various Social media services. You will also educating the internal groups within VMware on all the aspects of these best practices.
The Social Media evangelist will track key marketing trends and issues and produce a escalation report in order to track major Social Media issues.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal areas of VMware in the role of consultant, guiding the use of social media technologies. Internal areas within VMware include: Product Marketing, Engineering Teams, Support Services & Field Engineers
- ??Develop and use your knowledge of twitter, youtube, linkedIn, blogging, and community development to help implement VMware's social media strategy.?
- Ensure that technical feedback from community members and product teams is captured and presented to the Social Media team to help develop and refine the social media strategy.
- Develop and publish social media content, including blogging, videos and community posts.
- When appropriate build solid strategic relationships with customers who are pushing the boundaries with respect to social media technologies. Utilize these core leaders to push VMware social media properties into new channels.
Exeperience Required:
- A passion for both virtualization technologies/ and solutions. Candidate should have a solid underdstanding of the different operating systems and how virtualization is applied to the industry operating systems. (Linux, Windows, NT)
- At least 3 years experience in community development using social media services and/or community platform technologies such Jive/Tallegent/Confluence/Wikipedia
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work across multiple cross functional teams with influence to ensure the desired outcome.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent project and time management skills.
BA in Marketing, BS in Computer Science or related technical degree required.
