Assembla is a rapidly growing SaaS company that provides agile tools and services for software development teams. Assembla is looking for a product marketing manager for our Subversion and Git Initiatives. The job goal is to take advantage of Assembla's position as the world's best Subversion host, and make us the dominant Subversion host (with the objective of reaching 1M users). You will also expand the awareness and adoption of our git hosting and git tools, especially with corporate and enterprise developer teams.
We want someone who is excited about development tools, likes working with software developers, and wants to make an impact on the software development industry. We prefer someone located in the Boston area, but we will consider candidates globally.
This position will be responsible for promoting Assembla's products and services to Subversion and Git users worldwide. Key responsibilities will include:
�?� Maintaining our Subversion information site (http://svn-ref.assembla.com)
�?� Increasing our exposure on Subversion and Git reference sites
�?� Participating in developer forums and discussion groups
�?� Coordinating joint marketing efforts with our partners
�?� Package and distribute our Subversion clients and related software
Requirements:
�?� Use Internet marketing tactics like linking, SEO, affiliate arrangements, and analysis of user activity
�?� Work with open source communities and software distribution sites
�?� Create documentation, videos, reference materials, FAQ's, blog posts, and newsletters
�?� Understand and test our repository products
Experience:
�?� Software product marketing experience, preferably at a software startup
�?� A proven track record of building social marketing presence and driving inbound leads
�?� Familiarity with developing software or working with software development tools and processes
�?� Experience writing blog articles, giving presentations, and participating in social media forums
We are looking for someone to join our team and help grow the company. We will ask for a two week trial engagement. If we both like the results of that engagement, we will negotiate a full time offer.
