The Social Media Strategist is located at General Mills in Minneapolis, MN and reports to the Imagination Senior Account Director in Chicago. Working across several core General Mills brands, the Strategist will be the primary point of contact for each brand's social presence and will drive social strategy development and brand/product integration.

The Social Media Strategist will build and maintain strong support infrastructures; identify and test growth opportunities and channels; manage reporting and analysis; and work to expand the impact and reach of the brands in the social space.

Specific responsibilities include:

Client Support

Communicate and iterate processes and governance for the brands' social spaces. This includes identifying trends, shifts, new technologies and opportunities and their impact on the team processes and infrastructure.

Support and contribute to channel synchronization for consumer consistency across touchpoints, including planning, consumer connectivity, and supporting and bolstering the brand voice and extracting and sharing learnings for the organization.

Strategic Planning

Provide strategic leadership for agency partners and internal stakeholders on social integration and best practices; lead and manage annual social execution planning; stay abreast of competitive landscape.

Collaborate with client and partner agencies to uncover and articulate business needs and objectives, craft appropriate strategies and identify/implement programs to achieve client goals

Work with team to integrate social planning and testing into strategies and planning, linking and connecting business objectives with executional excellence and metrics.

Partner with teams on special projects, leverage content, design, digital media and engagement marketing groups to identify and, create and support new solutions and opportunities for consumers and Brand teams.

Client Growth

Work with both client and internal content/account teams to craft ideas and plans for social outreach beyond the current �??branded' borders, including participation in non-branded spaces as relevant and valuable.

Support and influence external influencer relationships, support the core platforms with external conversations and driving innovation.

Explore and create strategic plan around experimentation opportunities and channel expansion/growth; Identify and vet digital/social opportunities to drive growth, expansion, impact, and value proposition.

Client Management

Develop and foster account relationships, including understanding of each brand's goals, markets, needs and expectations. Create/maintain both vertical and horizontal client contact relationships, working toward deeper penetration at senior management level.

Attend and lead client meetings on an ongoing basis, interface as needed with executive level and middle management level on client side and at Imagination during meetings and presentations.

Create and deliver strong and compelling communications providing context and rationale to the client behind recommendations, proposals and new ideas.

Facilitate strong relationships and open communication between client leadership and internal creative team.

Reporting & Analysis

Lead social media monitoring efforts, distribute learnings, address issues and opportunities. Act as a liaison with PR and other internal client departments. Provide directional learnings and actionable insights across all metrics.

Develop, manage and share trend reporting and opportunity landscape. Aggregate metrics and provide campaign scorecard across all execution channels.

Manage social ad/media campaign(s), including all reporting and learning communication.


Minimum Requirements:

- 8-10 years experience in digital strategy development and client management
- Understanding of and experience with website, online media, social media, mobile media strategy and development
- Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent presenter and listener, with ability to think quickly and deliver consultative response
- Ability to interact with mid-level to senior level clients on a daily basis providing strong recommendations and solutions
- Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies for pre-campaign, in-market and post-fight testing
- Working knowledge of media and communications planning; direct and relationship marketing; and integrated marketing
